9.Can I connect my PSP system to my PC?

1.Question:How many game titles are expected at launch?

Answer: More than 100 PSP software titles are currently in development worldwide. In addition to games, many movie titles may soon be published on UMD software format for play on PSP systems. For more information, please check the website at www.us.playstation.com for product updates in the future.

2.Question:What is UMD?

Answer: UMD (Universal Media Disc) is a new, proprietary, high-capacity optical medium enabling game software, full-motion video and other forms of digital entertainment content such as movies and music, to be stored. The newly developed UMD is the next-generation compact storage media and at only 60mm in diameter, can store up to 1.8GB of digital data, making it perfect for a portable entertainment player like the PSP system. UMD stores a broad range of digital entertainment content including games, music, movies, and more.

3.Question:When will video/movie content become available for PSP?

Answer: The first slate of UMD movie titles include, Spider-man 2, Hellboy, Resident Evil 2, House of Flying Daggers, and Once Upon A Time In Mexico and will be available on April 19.

4.Question:Can you browse Internet websites with the PSP system?

Answer: Currently, the PSP system does not offer Internet browsing functionality.

5.Question:Will I be able to play online at wireless Hotspots?

Answer: Yes, with some limitations. This is accomplished through an Infrastructure/Online mode, which connects the PSP system to the Internet through a wireless-LAN from access points (typical for home networks) or Hotspots (typically for public/commercial use). However, wireless Hotspots that require you to login via a webpage for access will not be currently accessible to PSP system users.

6.Question:Do I need to use a wireless hotspot or wireless access point to play against people?

Answer: No, you can also connect up to 16 PSP systems in the vicinity directly through ad-hoc mode for gameplay without any additional hardware. An example of the first line up that supports head-to-head ad-hoc gameplay are: Twisted Metal: Head OnTM, WipeOut? Pure, Ape Escape? On the Loose, NBATM, MLBTM and ATV Offroad Fury? Blazin’ Trails.

7.Question:What is game sharing?

Answer: Some software titles may support a "Game Sharing" feature that allows you to share pieces of a game you have with another PSP system user wirelessly even if the other person does not have the same game. The data that you share with another PSP system will only be available while the PSP system is still on.

8.Question:Are there any software titles for the PSP system that feature game sharing?

Answer: Currently there are no titles that support a" game sharing" feature; however, future titles may incorporate this feature. Please check back of box as new software titles are released. Look for the words “Game Sharing Mode” on the back of the packaging.

9.Question:Can I connect my PSP system to my PC?

Answer: The PSP system can function as a USB Memory Stick Duo reader. Using this functionality, you can copy pictures, audio, and other content to and from your Memory Stick Duo. To access the Memory Stick Duo in your PSP system from your PC, you'll need a USB cable that has a "Mini-B" connector (common for digital cameras) and a "Standard-A" connector (common for printers, etc). Plug the Mini-B side into the top of your PSP system and the Standard-A side into your PC. From the PSP system software, navigate to the top of the settings list and select "USB Connection." Your PC (Windows/Mac/Linux) should detect a new "Removable Disk Drive" that you can then access.
